If you have always wanted to paint Watercolors ...jump in...there's no deep end in a bowl of water. While I use many papers...I find Yupo brilliant...but not
for beginners...as the outcomes can thwart the plans of the
most gifted...yet the outcomes can be much better than what
you had in mind. On the other hand...Strathmore Bristol board
#400...is a great ego boost...as it is more controllable and
almost as brilliant as Yupo. Arches is kind of traditional and
exceptionally good for beginners. My work is an exploration of Composition, Design and how 'form' is expressed with light, shadow and reflection. Your choice of colors can be unique however the values...the separation from foreground to background...must be addressed. I'm fascinated with Color...it's warmth or coolness in leading your viewer...into the story of your paintings. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science...originally I pursued a different path other than art...because it just came so easy to me. However...Life has a way of suggesting to you...why you are 'here.' Every time I put brush to paper...and showed some one the finished work...their smiles would blind me. And this continued from the time I was a child...right through to my 60's. So one day...it was just time to go for it. Talent is a gift...to be shared...and you are the beneficiary. So...after many years of trial and error...now is the time...to pick up those brushes...and really have fun. Welcome...to the marvelous, magical world of water color with Marsden Burnell |
